I am originally born and raised in Brazil but have been living in the U.S. since 2006. Back at that time, I packed my bags to follow a dream, and came to America to experience the culture, and collect adventures while figuring out who I was and what I wanted out of life. Living in a foreign country at 22 has definitely changed my perspective on life, relationships, and being independent.
I’ve always loved photography and fell even more in love with it during college in 2004. I studied Advertising and Public Relations and we had a class in which we learned about photography, including how a camera works, and we were able to replicate its science using a shoe box to take a photo, which completely blew my mind. Then we would develop them in a dark room. It was hands down the most fun class I’ve ever taken and it really stuck with me.
Even though I was always taking “artsy” photos with my phone and meticulously editing them in any cool apps I could find, I never really thought about taking it to the next level until I bought my first professional camera back in 2014. From that time on, it was a whirlwind of learning experiences, trial and errors, workshops, all while discovering my style, brand, what and how I like to photograph. Which lead me to discover a passion for documenting love, and ultimately and inevitably, weddings. And, let me tell you, it is such a blessing to be able to be a part this beautiful season in people’s lives. I’m always so excited to get involved, meet wonderful couples and their families, get to know them and their unique beautiful stories, and get emotional while witnessing all the love that surrounds them on their wedding day.
Today, I live with my husband in Chicago and he plays a big part of this business I love and cherish. He is the one who takes care of the finances, behind the scenes stuff, and occasionally tags along for meetings (aka double dates, ha! see explanation below), shoots, and weddings to assist me when I need it. He is also pretty good at making people laugh and feel comfortable, and, even though he has his own job apart from this, he helps me run this little business we’ve been nurturing with so much love. I am so thankful for his encouragement and all the support he gives me on this journey, and in life in general.
We’re newlyweds and very much in love, and that reflects on my love for photographing couples that are madly in love and down for a good adventure.
We are also expecting our first child in December/19. A baby girl! :)
The best thing about working with couples is that we get to go on double dates a lot (I mean, who likes boring business meetings, am I right?), and meet + become friends with a lot of amazing people.
We love traveling, hanging out with our fam, cooking, watching our favorite shows together, having a glass of wine at our building’s hot tub (basically every night), and just being goofy + enjoying life!
I love getting to know couple’s love stories and incorporating their uniqueness into the images we create together. I am all for intimate, raw moments, capturing the movement, emotion, and authenticity of a love story.
I know it’s not an easy thing to allow someone to peak into your relationship in a vulnerable and emotional way, and that’s why I think it’s important for me to also be vulnerable and invite my couples to see me and my husband, and our relationship, and realize we’re all trying to navigate through marriage waters. Sometimes it will be goofy, other times, messy. Sometimes it will be hard and frustrating, but a lot of times it will be beautiful and worth it all.
And I’m here to tell that story, mess and all, so you can look back one day, feel that gratitude, and proudly show your children and grandchildren that you lived a love story that will inspire their own love story to happen one day.
Let’s tell that story! Can’t wait to hear from you!
